1. What makes Cotswold Hue paint different from other brands?

Cotswold Hue paints are crafted in the heart of the Cotswolds, using premium pigments and carefully balanced formulations. Each batch is hand-made to ensure exceptional colour depth, smooth application, and lasting performance.

Our palette is inspired by the region’s timeless beauty, delivering rich, authentic colours that enhance any interior space. You’ll see this in our names, colour descriptions, and the inspiration behind each shade.

2. Can I touch up your paint if I mark or damage the walls?

Yes.

We worked hard to formulate a high-end paint that can be touched up. This was one of the main reasons we made our own high end paint. One that is as good to use and apply, as the finish itself.

In most colours, you can touch up without it being visible when the same batch of paint and the same application method are used.

Some darker colours may still show a slight difference — this is common across bold, dark shades. In those cases, we recommend decorating the section or the entire wall to ensure a consistent finish.

3. Are your paints eco-friendly?

Yes. Our paints are water-based, low-VOC, and free from harmful solvents, making them safe for your home. We are committed to sustainability, from responsibly sourced materials to recyclable packaging.

4. What finishes are available?

All Cotswold Hue colours are available in three professional-grade finishes:

Traditional Matt Emulsion – a rich, chalky, flat finish for interior walls and ceilings.

Enduring Emulsion – a wipeable, durable flat matt for high-traffic interior walls and ceilings.

Traditional Eggshell – a low-sheen, hard-wearing finish ideal for woodwork and metal surfaces.

We also offer a white timber primer undercoat for new or bare woodwork to ensure adhesion and a perfect base for our Traditional Eggshell.

5. How accurate are the colours shown online?

They are great as a guide and inspiration. However, we recommend ordering our hand-painted colour cards or sample pots before making a final choice. Digital screens can vary in brightness and colour accuracy, so physical samples are the best way to see the true shade in your homes unique space and lighting.

6. Can I order sample pots?

Yes.

We offer 100 ml sample pots in every colour so you can test the shade on your walls, woodwork, or trim before committing to a full tin.

Sample pots is our Traditional Matt Emulsion, so you can also experience our perfected chalky matt finish.

7. How do I prepare my walls before painting?

Good preparation is essential for a flawless finish. Make sure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from grease or dust. On any bare plaster, start with a ‘mist coat’ (a mix of roughly 20% water and 80% emulsion) to help the paint bond and absorb evenly to high absorbant dry plaster. Fill any cracks, sand the surface smooth, then apply two full coats of our emulsion for a luxurious, timeless finish.

8. How long does delivery take?

Orders are usually dispatched within 1–2 working days and shipped via tracked courier.

Delivery times may vary depending on your location, but most UK orders arrive within 3–5 working days.

9. Do you ship internationally?

At present, we supply and deliver throughout the UK.

For international orders, please contact us directly to discuss shipping options.

10. What is the sheen level of your paints?

Our Traditional Matt Emulsion has an ultra-low sheen level of around 1–2%, creating a rich, chalky appearance.

Enduring Emulsion offers a slightly higher sheen of approximately 5% for added durability without compromising a matt look.

Traditional Eggshell has a low sheen of around 20%, ideal for woodwork and metal.

All paint finsihes are shown in example  on our colour card alongside the full palette. On our colour cards, all colours are in our traditional matt paint.

11. How much coverage can I expect per litre?

Our paints typically cover 12–14 m² per litre per coat, depending on surface texture and porosity. Two coats are recommended for best results.

12. What is the recommended drying time between coats?

Under normal conditions (20 °C with good ventilation), our paints are touch-dry in 1–2 hours and ready for a second coat after around 4 hours. In cooler or more humid conditions, allow longer drying times.

13. Do you offer technical data sheets for your paints?

Yes. Every Cotswold Hue product has a downloadable Technical Data Sheet (TDS) with full application instructions, coverage rates, drying times, and safety information. These are available via the product information link at the bottom of our website or upon request.
